Science shows us that everything in the universe is made of energy. This same energy is the core of nature and the building block of all matter. If you look around, everything in your physical material world that can be seen and touched is actually a bundle of entangled energy. One fascinating fact that science has been able to demonstrate is that energy is not created or destroyed; energy simply takes on new forms. This is a constant process of interchanging and flow of electricity, shifting and shaping everything around us.
Some processes are quicker than others, but no form of energy will ever hold the same form infinitely. When you look at your hand or a tree branch, it is easy to assume that they are solid and completely stable — this is one of nature’s most beautiful illusions. At a very deep level, everything, including your physical body, is undergoing an energetic process.
The Human Body
The human body is made up of trillions of cells, each programmed with specific information in the form of energy. This information contains the function for each cell to accomplish before it is naturally replaced. As each cell interacts as an ongoing cyclic process, there is nothing ever completely still. But just as you cannot see the hour hand of a clock moving, it is difficult to realize that everything in nature is in the constant process of evolving.
The physical and energetic body uses electricity as a form of communication. For instance, if you poked yourself in the arm with a sharp needle, you would immediately be struck with a sharp pain. This takes place as the nerve cells in your arm send an electrical signal to the brain. This electrical activity is also responsible every move you make, every thought you have, and how you feel mentally and physically at any given time.
The body is an ongoing transmission of energy. The language of this communication is vibrational; which means each energetic pattern contains a specific rhythm — known as frequency. All vibrations can be thought of as wave like movement. The subtle vibrations of the body are quite miraculous in that in order for our body to function as a unified whole, this mass of vibration must resonate as a single system.
Resonance is when two or more wavelengths are vibrating at the same frequency. When the energy of the body is resonating, we feel clean and full of energy. These are the days we feel balanced, happy, and in control. When there are vibrations in the body that are out of synch, we can feel it as well. This comes in the form of underlying stress, fatigue, irritability, and restlessness.
For example, researchers have found that the normal frequency range of the human body is between 62–72 Hz; but if it drops below that, an individual can become susceptible to illness. The body, however, is always trying to make it’s way back to healthy resonance, but the subtle disturbances of reality can obstruct this process from fully taking place.
The Energy of the Mind
Everything in nature is rhythmic. From the rotation of our galaxy, the setting of the sun, the sound of rainfall, the beating of the heart, and the pattern of our breath. When we are exposed to a song that resonates with us, we are naturally compelled to move in synch with the rhythm — this is the natural response of harmonic flow.
Ancient tribes have long known about the power and meaning of rhythmic stimuli. Repetitive sound of drumming and chanting were used to signal the oneness of all things. This practice existed long before the discovery of energetic wave patterns. The essence of nature, according to ancient philosophy, is pure rhythmic balance. The origin of the universe is believed to be that of sound and vibration. The Buddhist mantra Ohm (pronounced ‘AUM’) is said to contain the frequency of the world manifesting into creation. This means that everything in nature contains a vibration of resonance.
The nature of the mind is no different. Every thought vibrates, and when the mind is at ease, it is able to find balance and coherence with the environment — the wave patterns of the brain are in healthy vibration. This is when we are present in the moment, in touch with the nature of awareness where tension and stress cannot exist. It is when the mind drifts from one extreme to the other — happy, sad, stressed, negative and positive — that causes this naturally occurring balance to fall out of resonance.
Thoughts of the past or future extend the mind into an overactive state of illusion. Leaving the present moment to contemplate the future for an extended period of time will cause the natural wavelength of the mind to be over compensated. It will become harder and harder for the mind to find balance. Staying in the moment as much as possible is how the mind remains close to the center of nature and in touch with the balanced vibration of pure energy.
Sleep
This is why sleep is so important. Sleep is where the body has a chance to restabilize and recalibrate its resonance. Proper sleep puts us back in harmony with our own vibration. When we are at rest, and slip naturally into a deep sleep, our heart rate, breathing, circulation, and brain waves all settle into a rhythmic pulse. This process may not completely arrive at a balanced state of frequency before you wake up, but when you are able to achieve a good night’s sleep, you will always feel better the next morning, no matter how irritated or unfocused you were the day before.
When it becomes hard for you to fall asleep, it is usually because of an overactive mind. The thought patterns that we carry through the day can easily become over stimulated in certain areas, especially today with so many things begging for our attention. Overstimulation will naturally cause an excess vibration, and a lack of activity in other areas. This is where the energy and vibration of the body can get out of synch.
Allowing the mind
to ease up can be tricky. But when your mind is able to calm down and find balance before sleep, you are sending a signal to your entire body that it is time to bring the subtle vibrations back into a coherent state of resonance.
The Resonance of Meditation
Life becomes a swirling vortex of events and experiences appearing, coming, and going spontaneously. Anxiety, stress, anger, struggle, aggression, are all burdens for the modern mind to deal with. Preoccupied by external pressure, the mind is exposed to the sounds and vibrations of an aggressive world. Each emotion and reaction triggered by a certain experience will produce a specific energetic frequency throughout the body. If these subtle wave patterns do not fit properly with the nature of our being, this will eventually cause layers of distortion and discontent. Meditation is the complete opposite.
Increasingly accepted as a universal practice that is able to cut through the noise, meditation is a powerful way to regain alignment with ourselves. Meditation is a state free of all cares and concerns. To meditate effectively is to take a complete break from the ordinary mind, and sink deeper into the nature of the conscious mind. In this state of awareness, there is no desire to grasp or cling to anything, including your thoughts.
Over time we have naturally trained the mind to hold onto anxious thoughts and give more attention to worry and fear. In meditation, however, we are training the mind to flow freely. Instead of chasing everything that comes close, the mind can release overactive vibrations and regain balance. This may take time and consistent practice to achieve, but meditation provides an amazing way to release negative energy and inner disturbance. The nature of meditation is pure coherence and harmony.
Brainwave Entrainment
In contemporary meditation, brainwave entrainment is used by a growing number of practitioners in order to stimulate a healthy interaction between the mind and body. This technique uses rhythmic sound to naturally trigger states of meditation as well as promote altered states of consciousness. Different brain waves correspond to different moods and state of being. Brainwave entrainment can be used to generate healthy amounts of specific brainwave patterns, depending on the purpose of the meditation session.
Using binaural stimulated rhythms, brainwave entrainment is a great way to bring the mind into a state of resonating harmony that can be experienced throughout the entire body.
